Meet River

River Martone, MA, LPC, MFTC

I approach our work together from a radical social justice framework rooted in liberation-based healing and nourished by curiosity, compassion, and a deep belief that no part of us is beyond care. I believe we are all made up of many stories and many parts, and that no story, no part, and no self is beyond compassion. My work is informed by Internal Family Systems (parts work), Narrative Therapy, feminist, existential, and person-centered approaches, and grounded in anti-racist, anti-colonial, sex-positive, poly, queer, and trans-affirming values.

I particularly enjoy working with LGBTQ+ folks, people healing from religious trauma, survivors of oppressive systems, and anyone navigating questions of identity, belonging, grief, self-worth, or meaningful life transitions. I am especially passionate about supporting men seeking deeper emotional freedom and more authentic relationships and older adults exploring the transitions, losses, meaning-making, and questions that often emerge later in life. I also enjoy working with those who have spent much of their lives feeling disconnected from themselves and are seeking a deeper relationship with who they are beneath survival.

In addition to traditional talk therapy, I offer Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) for individuals seeking deeper healing and transformation. KAP can be particularly supportive for those navigating depression, trauma, grief, existential concerns, or longstanding patterns that feel difficult to shift through insight alone.

As a White, neurodivergent, queer, and trans person who survived conversion therapy, I know firsthand that living becomes difficult when parts of ourselves are forced into exile. While our stories are different, I understand the ache of carrying burdens that were never ours to hold. As a therapist, I hope to bear witness to my clients in their fullness—honoring both their pain and their resilience. Together, we can cultivate the conditions for healing, reconnect with what has been lost or hidden, and create space for hope, possibility, and transformation—to bloom into gardens that once were graves.

River is now offering Ketamine Assisted Therapy (KAP). KAP combines the therapeutic potential of ketamine with the safety and support of a trained mental health professional. This modality can be particularly effective for individuals navigating depression, PTSD, complex trauma, and other persistent emotional challenges.
